To see flowering trees and shrubs filled with such beautiful greenery this time of year can put me in a great mood (and is tolerable, thanks to Zyrtec). So as I happily skipped along to view the exterior of this much-talked-about design house, I was delighted to see a cozy garden and sitting area by the pool.
Photo by Gordon BeallSitting here with my girlfriends, sharing a plate of bread & hummus while sipping on a cool, refreshing beverage...that's what I envision. The space surely sets off this type of vibe for me.
When I learned the designer of this space, Wanda Crossley, is also owner of Matthews House & Garden in Upperville, Virginia, I quickly made the connection to a post by My Notting Hill I read late last year. It is one place I have on my list to visit.

There is nothing like a boutique or shop that offers such lovely pieces for house and home. I love discoveries like these, that feed my interior-design-obsessed mind. It is with great thanks to folks like Ms. Crossley who share their passions with their retail business, of which I enjoy patronizing.
If you have not made your way to see the DC Design House and love inspiration of the design kind, May 9 is the last day.
Writing this post has reinvigorated my inspiration for outdoor spaces. With the design house the size that it is, there are a number of outdoor areas to talk about. There is more to come very soon.
