My love of furniture and home furnishings takes priority over jewelry in the gift-sense any day.
For instance, this lovely St. Cloud dining table by Niermann Weeks would make a surprisingly fabulous gift over a diamond anniversary ring. At least in my book. The table is not too bulky but just enough to carry it's weight on those lovely curved legs.
The finish is so rich and warm. Wouldn't you rather have this table over something sparkly?
And their Elgin Major arm chairs over a pair of Asscher cut diamond earrings. Just look at the shape of those legs. Very simplistic and classically stylish.
And the new ANDRÉ ARBUS COLLECTION with Baker Furniture has my full attention. In particular, the Deauville Center table. Wouldn't you rather receive this architecturally appealing table over a piece of jewelry?
The 'x' design along with the round hoops (I'm sure there's a better way to describe this in the design world) are elements I adore.
Or the Chateau Table from the same collection. All aspects of this table I love, including the star design element at the bottom.
And rather than a dozen roses, a great design book would make a lovely gift.
Such as Michele Keith's soon-to-be released book, Designers Here and There: Inside the City and Country Homes of Americas Top Decorators.
It would satisfy my enthusiasm for design and curiosity on how designers decorate their own surroundings.
Ideas from my design-obssessed mind on gifts for house & home are in short-form tonight as I could go on-and-on. A bit of Sunday night entertainment for me and hopefully for you, too.
