Some years ago, I worked with someone who found the need to take an emergency last minute overnight trip away from home and would not have time to go home and pack. She was not concerned about clothing and toiletries, she was concerned about her eyebrows. I need my eyebrows.
So she went to the drugstore to buy her much-needed eyebrow pencil to ensure she would appear as her usual self the next day. I was in my early 20s then and didn't comprehend the concern. Vanity and appearance plays at various levels of priority in our lives, and everyone is at a different level. My level then was high on clothing and make-up but there was no concern about my eyebrows.
Now, 20+ years later, I can appreciate the concern. My eyebrows are not too sparse but I have oily skin which does not photograph too kindly when I'm a bottomless oil pit. The reflection of the flash onto my oily skin makes it appear as though I barely have any eyebrows. (BE Mineral Veil and Bobbi Brown blotting sheets have since become my best friend.)
And I admit, they do look thinner today compared to 20 years ago (I've found that I do not have to pluck and wax as often). It was suggested I use a powder to fill-in my eyebrows, thinking powder is better for oily skin. I've tried it and it just doesn't look natural to me. I also do not like pencils as my hand is not steady when I'm filling-in my arch. It's simply not a pretty sight.
I've been a user of Bare Escentuals products for a couple years now and just learned of their eyebrow kit. Yes, I'm going to give it another try.
With this attempt, I am looking for healthy eyebrows and less oil. Boy, wouldn't that be nice.
